Autumn Romance, Phase Five
It's finally finished. Echoing the gesture of the kindly gentleman in the sketch, Jim raised a bottle of a nice Spanish Cava (though we think the gentleman is holding a bottle of Sauterne), and poured us a couple of glasses in celebration. We love any opportunity to celebrate, and do so often with great food and a lovely wine. This sketch has made it to the "print on canvas" list. We'll see how that turns out. I do think I'm having as much joy sketching and drawing as I've had sculpting for many years.

You've really breathed life into the figures- they look like real, unique people!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Marian! That means a lot to me. I've so come to love this couple through the last week with them.
DeleteI really like the interaction between these two. It is such a comfortable and companionable look that passes between them. Also it was interesting to watch the development of this piece :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joyce. I've had some family members making similar observations, my sister wants a canvas of this for herself for her new house. ...there is the timeless connection between the two, living completely in the present, as indicated by the timepiece she wears that is highlighted and that offers no hands or numbers to the viewer.
