Dynasty Restaurant - Our Favorite Table

I guess Jim and I have spent so much time at this table that it feels rather like home, and the owners feel more like family, so while we drooled over the menu at another table (there were interlopers at OUR table), I pulled out my Moleskine and sketched.   Again, the color went on a couple days later.

  1. This looks like such a happy and airy place. In a way you were lucky to sit at a different table so you could sketch your favorite. Very nice!

    1. Actually, we do sit at a lot of different tables, I just singled this one out to make the story more interesting. It was that end of the room that looked cozy and airy.... I wanted to see if I could pull off the wall jogs, the wine cabinet and the angles of the skylight beams, as well as sketching as much as I could before the food got cold. I really like the way the chairs can be stand-ins (sit-ins?) for people. They appear to lean back in casual conversation.

  4. Jim and I went back today to have a quick lunch at Dynasty, and I noted the wall colors I'd gotten wrong. For one, the mauve that I painted was in reality more muted, like gray, and that color only went up to the molding. The upper parts of the walls were an anemic egg-yoke gold. The wine cabinet is actually a light, birchlike wood color. However, the plant IS green. Got something right. I'm still working on the total color recall thing, and obviously not too adept at it yet. We could just call it artistic license.
